The
Wise Man On Wealth
Solomon
amassed more wealth and wisdom than anyone who has ever lived,
except for Jesus (Matthew 12:42).
He studied people, animals, and a host of other topics
noting their cause-and-effect relationships.
He also observed why some are wealthy and some are
impoverished. He
gave 19 warnings in the Proverbs about what leads to financial
ruin. Each violation
brings financial consequences.
We may not see the connection between the cause and
effect but God does.
Violation
Consequence
1.
Being immoral with a woman-----“Strangers (shall) be
filled with thy wealth” (5:10).
2.
Sleeping too much---------------“so shall thy poverty
come” (6:11).
3.
Obtaining money by doing evil------The Lord…casteth away
the substance of the wicked” (10:3).
4.
Being a quitter-----------“He becometh poor that dealeth
with a slack hand” (10:4).
5.
Co-signing a note--------“He that is surety for a
stranger shall smart for it” (11:15).
6.
Being stingy------------------------“It tendeth to
poverty” (11:24).
7.
Making your family angry----You…“shall inherit the wind”
(11:29).
8.
Getting money without work-----It… “shall be diminished”
(13:11).
9.
Rejecting correction----------“Poverty and shame shall be
to [you]” (13:18).
10.
Talking too much--------------t…“tendeth only to penury”
(14:23).
11.
Being Lazy-----------------------You “shall suffer
hunger” (19:15).
12.
Ignoring poor people’s needs-----------You
“shall cry…but it shall not be heard” (21:13).
13.
Loving pleasure & parties------You
“shall be a poor man” (21:17).
14.
Having chemical addictions----------You “shall not be
rich” (21:17).
15.
Giving gifts to rich people---------You
“shall surely come to want” (22:16).
16.
Overeating------------------You
“shall come to poverty” (23:21).
17.
Charging interest on loans----------------You “shall
gather for him that will pity the poor” (28:8).
18.
Following vain persons------------You “shall have poverty
enough” (28:19).
19.
Trying to get rich quickly----------Poverty “shall come
upon [you]” (28:22).
God’s word
clearly shows a cause-and-effect sequence between disobedience
to His laws and losing money.
These deserve prayerful study, so you might want to post
these on your refrigerator.
