Couples’ Retreat & Textbook.  The Smoky Mountain Couples’ Retreat will be March 8-11, 2012.  Room cost will be $108.  A deposit of $54 is due before Jan. 1^st.   There is a sign-up sheet in the foyer.  Prior to the retreat, couples are urged to read together Dr. Gary Chapman’s bestselling book, The Five Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts.  When you sign the sheet, please indicate whether or not you want us to order you the book.  Book cost is $8. 

January Sermons.  Morning theme is “Bible Basics” & evening theme is “Mental Health & Christianity.”           

Power of One Person.  Tim Tebow was a Heisman trophy winning quarterback at the Univ. of Florida.  He currently is the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos.  Tebow, who openly claims to be a Christian recently posted “Col. 3:15 GB2” on his Facebook page shortly before Denver’s game with the New York Jets.  GB refers to “God Bless” & “Go Broncos.”  With more than 704,000 friends on Facebook, 3,000 of them said they “liked” his post.  In the 2009 BCS championship game, Tebow  wrote “John 3:16 on his eyeblack patches.  In the days that followed, there were 92 million searches on the internet for John 3:16 (http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/gators/ncaa-trying-to-ban-messages-on-eye-black-232356.html). 

            Six centuries before Christ, God looked for a Jewish leader who practiced justice & sought the truth (Jer. 5:1).  Unfortunately, God could not find that person.  Today, one person can make a significant difference in so many ways & you might be that person.  However, you must be true, brave & honest in your Christianity and unafraid of criticism.
